Despite the fact that he has starred in many phenomenal movies, Russell Crowe is still best known and most praised for his role in the historical epic movie Gladiator.
In addition to being his most famous role, Ridley Scott’s masterpiece launched Crowe’s career, skyrocketing him to stardom. And it appears that portraying Roman General Maximus Decimus Meridius was a walk in the park for the talented actor.
While filming Gladiator (and later Noah), Crowe got into character by not showering and staying in the same clothes for days on end. Crowe didn’t find it particularly difficult to be dirty, seeing as he doesn’t use body wash, shampoo, deodorant or any other hygiene product in real life.
As a matter of fact, he has such a strong body odor problem that other celebrities constantly request to be seated as far away from the actor as possible.
