The handsome actor conquered the hearts of many teenage girls as Legolas in The Lord of The Rings trilogy and later in The Hobbit. He was almost equally handsome as Will Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean series of movies and he also appeared in Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, Elizabethtown, The Good Doctor and many others.
The story of Bloom’s African heritage is an interesting one. The actor grew up believing that his mother’s husband, the celebrated South African novelist and anti-Apartheid activist Harry Saul Bloom, was his father.
Bloom died when Orlando was four but it took his mother another nine years to confess to him that the novelist and the man whose name he carried was not his biological father. Colin Stone, his mom’s partner and close friend, was his actual father and later his legal guardian, but Orlando decided to keep the Bloom’s name and continued to cherish his memory and heritage.
