However, his mother Lynette was born in Kempton Park in the Gauteng province of South Africa to South African parents of French and Dutch ancestry, so he definitely counts as at least half-South African.
People in South Africa are particularly proud of his South African heritage, which is logical, considering his tremendous success in the world of tennis. Federer holds dual Swiss and South African citizenship. Roger Federer is considered by many experts and fans alike to be the best tennis player ever.
