15. ARNOLD VOSLOO
You may not Arnold Vosloo by his name, but you’d definitely recognize his face anywhere. Vosloo is a South African actor working in Hollywood, with movies in his bio such as The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, in which he played Imhotep, Hard Target, Darkman II and III, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and others.
He also appeared in the TV show 24 where he played the terrorist Habib Marwan in the fourth season of the series. Vosloo was born in Pretoria to parents of Afrikaner and Dutch ancestry. Both of his parents were actors, so there was really no question what kind of career he would take. His father also operated a drive-in movie theatre in Despatch.
He took drama courses at Pretoria Technikon and started his career as a stage actor at Pretoria State Theatre. He received a number of prestigious awards for his work in plays like Hamlet and Don Juan. When he moved to the States, he first worked in theatre and his movie breakthrough came with 1492: Conquest of Paradise in 1992, followed by two Darkman movies.
