21 Celebs That Had The Craziest Odd Jobs

8. Hugh Laurie

The British charmer used his English Literature degree to help him land a few jobs prior to pursuing an acting career. Hey, everybody has to start somewhere, right? Well, so did Hugh, whose beginnings were in writing book reviews, comedy sketches and radio commercials.

Then, during his senior year at the University of Oxford, he became involved in acting, with his first appearance in a student film, Privileged. He occasionally even performed in radio commercials, probably because of his smooth voice, and also attempted to write a novel before turning once again to acting.

Another interesting detail is that Grant also worked as an assistant groundsman at the Fulham Football Club. Guess old Hugh’s got a trick or two up his sleeve to get by, and doesn’t say “no” to some jobs, if he really needs them.
