In ’97 he received a scholarship to study at Chicago’s American Academy of Art and took painting classes there. After that he transferred to Chicago State University where his mom worked and majored in English.
After some time he decided that his busy schedyle was affecting his music career, so he dropped out to focus on his music. His mother wasn’t exactly thrilled, but he managed to achieve his musical dreams – even naming his first album “College Dropout.” But apart from that, he used to work at the GAP folding clothes and helping out. He also frequently mentiones the struggles he had to face, saying he used to steal but “never got caught.”
