12. Tim Allen
Allen was a troubled teen, and his problematic behaviour probably stemmed from the family tragedy he withstood when he lost his father (with whom he had a very strong bond). He was an indifferent student with a straight passion for practical skills. He studied at Central Michigan University and later transferred to Westen Michigan Univeristy to earn a degree in radio production and television.
There he met his long-term girlfriend, Laura Deibel, and began making money as a narcotics dealer. After he graduated in 1976, he took a position at a sporting goods store and was soon offered a job at the company’s advertising agency.
The drug business eventually caught up with him and after serving 28 months in prison he decided enough’s enough. He then worked in an ad agency but became a regular at the Comedy Castle in the evenings – an act that ultimately led to him becoming an actor.
