6. Mr. T
A huge, angry man with giant muscles and pounding fists seems perfect for the Army. Laurence Tureaud (we’ll just call him Mr. T, it’s easier) served in the Army’s Military Police Coprs in the 70s. In November 1975, he was promoted to Squad Leader after being awarded a letter of recommendation by his drill sergeant. Moreover, he was elected “Top Trainee of the Cycle” among six thousand other troops.
An interesting detail from his service is that the one time he was punished in July 1976, and his platoon sergeant instructed him to chop down trees. The funny thing is that he was never told how many trees he should cut down, so Mr. T single-handedly sliced some 70 or so trees in a little over three and a half hours. Once everyone noticed that he was literally obliterating a forest, they stopped him. We can only assume he’d done enough at that point to not deserve punishment anymore.
