3. George Carlin
You might remember Carlin as a controversial, outspoken, but primarily hilarious man. This comedy giant, well-known for his anti-establishment way of thinking, surprises us with the fact that he is also a veteran. George dropped out of high school in 1954 and then joined the Air Force to use the GI Bill to cover the costs of broadcasting school. He was stationed in Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana and was trained as a radar technician.
When asked about his service, Carlin always mentioned how he was glad to have been generally discharged instead of dishonorably discharged. They thought he was a rather unproductive Airman and he was court martialed as many as three times. So, when they decided enough is enough, they discharged him, and the rest is history (or comedy, whatever floats your boat).
