20. James Earl Jones
Even though we would like to see Jones in the military commanding a horde of troopers to invade a starship while swinging around a lightsaber, we’re pretty sure that wasn’t the case here. He was recruited into the Army after he graduated from university. The Korean War was heating up so he expected to see a lot of combat – but that really wasn’t the case. Jones and his unit were sent to construct a cold-weather training command in Colorado, near Leadville. His squad trained full-time and Jones was promoted to first lieutenant before being honorably discharged.
There are two reasons why Jones left the military. He was advised to take some time off and think whether or not he wants to pursue the military career full-time. Secondly, he wanted to try being a voice actor, and wanted to keep a reserve option. Suffice to say, he excelled at his new job and never participated in any military service again.
