2. Bill Cosby
Ahh, finally we get a chance to not write about all the shenanigans going on lately with the Cosby family. Bill was a really good lad during his service – he joined the Navy in 1956 as a hospital corpsman, and got the chance to serve at five different marine bases. Even more impressive is that he managed to do that during his four-year service. He worked in physical therapy and assisted seriously injured Korean War soldiers.
Cosby won numerous awards running on the Navy track team, but there was also a dark side to it all. He was exposed to racial discrimination, and was forced to eat in the kitchens of cafes where his team would stop to eat while on the road. We all know that racism is an ideology suited for excruciatingly stupid people, but this is just stepping over the line. Why would you discriminate somebody who’s doing their best to save lives? Where’s the sense in that?
