10. Montel Williams
Unlike a lot of other people on this list, Montel actually graduated from something related to the military – the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. He was enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corps in 1974 and was appointed as a midshipman in the Navy. He was a cryptologic officer for naval intelligence in Guam, and in 1983 got transferred to the National Security Agency in Maryland.
While in Maryland, Williams began counseling his team and the families of other servicemen. This experience helped him a great deal with freeing himself and allowed him to develop invaluable rhetoric skills that would later assist his public speaking career. And let’s not forget The Montel Williams Show that’s been airing since 1991.
Upon leaving the Navy, Montel received the Navy Achievement Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.
