9. JAMIE FOXX
Jamie Foxx is an award-winning actor, musician and producer. He received an Academy award and a BAFTA award for his portrayal of Ray Charles in Ray, and was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor for Collateral. His other notable movies include Django Unchained, Dreamgirls, Annie, Unpredictable and Intuition. Foxx is also a successful, Grammy-winning musician.
Foxx was born Eric Marlon Bishop In Texas, to Darrel (who later converted to Islam and changed his name to Shahid Abdula) and Louise Bishop. Soon after his birth, when he was only seven months old, his parents split and he was sent to live with his mother’s adoptive parents. From that point on, he barely had any contact with his parents. The grandparents were strict and made Foxx attend a church choir and Sunday school, but provided a loving home for the boy. Foxx would later acknowledge his grandmother as one of the biggest influences in his life and the main reason for his success.
