Nicole Richie is a socialite, reality television personality, and also a fashion designer and actress and author. She is best known for her participation in the reality TV show The Simple Life, alongside Paris Hilton. Together with Hilton, her best friend since childhood, Richie was one of the first celebrities to become “famous for being famous.” She is also known as Lionel Richie’s daughter, although many people are aware that she is actually his adoptive child.
Richie’s parents both came from the music industry – her father Peter Michael Escovedo was a musician and brother of Sheila E, Richie’s aunt, and her mother Karen Moss was an assistant for Sheila E. Being close to Lionel Richie, the couple decided that, considering their poor financial situation, best thing for the little girl was to go live with Richie and his wife. They adopted her legally when she was nine, but soon split.
