17. FAITH HILL
For those who don’t know (although there are probably not many), Faith Hill is an extremely successful country music recording artist. She has sold over 40 million records across the world, won five Grammys, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards, as well as six American Music Awards and many others. In 2009, she was named the No. 1 Adult Contemporary Artist of the 2000s by Billboard magazine.
Faith Hill was born in Mississippi in 1967 and immediately given up for adoption. Her adoptive parents, Edna and Ted Perry, provided a loving, committed, inspiring home for her and their two biological sons. She always knew she was adopted but it wasn’t until she moved to Nashville to pursue her career that she started looking for her biological parents. She found out that, contrary to what she’d been told, she wasn’t born from her mother’s affair with a married man – her parents actually went on and got married and had another boy, whom they kept. Still, she says she doesn’t harbor any bitterness or resentment towards them.
