7. OWEN WILSON
Whether it’s because of his comedy roles or his perceived “laid-back dude” persona, Owen Wilson is the last person we’d think of when talking about celebrities struggling with depression. However, the star of The Royal Tenenbaums, Zoolander, Bottle Rocket, Midnight in Paris, You, Me and Dupree and Wedding Crashers made headlines in 2007 after he attempted suicide by slashing his wrists at his home in Santa Monica, California.
While most of the public was shocked and surprised by the news of Wilson’s suicide attempt, several close friends stated that Wilson had struggled with alcoholism, substance abuse and depression for years. Following the suicide attempt, Wilson was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was treated for depression through therapy and antidepressants. He managed to recover, largely thanks to his friends and family, and continued making highly successful movies.
