3. Corey Taylor
The American heavy metal singer is known for being the lead vocalist of Slipknot, one of the most commercially successful and influential bands since the 90’s. Both he and the rest of the band (except for the late Paul Grey) were born in Des Moines, Iowa, and their common musical interests have sparked the flame that would later grow into something as massive as Slipknot.
Before becoming a renowned singer, Taylor had a troubled childhood. He moved around a lot, didn’t meet his father until he was an adult, lived with his uncle, mother, and grandmother. To make matters worse, he was already addicted to cocaine and overdosed twice by the time he was 15. With the help and support from his grandmother, Taylor was able to cope with his problems. She even bought him some gear to fuel his musical interests. It was at this point that he realized he can actually sing very well, and the rest is, as they say, history.
