18. Nate Ruess
Born in Iowa City, Iowa to Larry Ruess and Bess Zinger, singer Nate Ruess began his long singing career performing in high school. He is the younger of two children, having a sister named Elizabeth. His uncle, John Ruess, was a performer on Broadway and served as an influence for Ruess’ musical adventures.
As mentioned, he began performing in high school, forming The Format in 2001 with Sam Means. Two years later, they released the album ”Interventions + Lullabies,” and another one in 2006 entitled ”Dog Problems.” After the band split up in 2008, he started a new group called Fun with Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost. Their first album was not that much of a breakthrough, but in 2011, they released ”Some Nights.” which featured two of 2012’s most popular singles: “We Are Young” and “Some Nights.”
