The Fresh Prince from Bel Air hasn’t always been the adorable, handsome, calm family man that he is now. Apparently, in 1989, Smith was involved in an argument which turned into a fight and resulted in a man nearly losing vision in one eye. The charges against the actor, which were later dismissed, were numerous: aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
The target of the assault was record promoter William Hendricks, and the whole situation happened a couple of days after Smith had received his rap Grammy along with DJ Jazzy Jeff. Namely, Smith asked his bodyguard Charles Alston to attack Hendricks, leaving Hendricks with six stitches after Alston had fractured his left eye orbit.
Will had to spend a night at the West Philadelphia police station and was unable to sleep because other inmates kept asking for his autograph during the entire night.
