17. O.J. Simpson
There’s no way you haven’t at least heard of O.J. Simpson and all the public attention that surrounded him at one point. He was charged with two counts of murder with special circumstances, after which he didn’t surrender and was declared a fugitive. Upon his capture, he was taken to trial which lasted for ages and ended with the jury declaring him not guilty. This caused a strong division between races, where the African-Americans mostly believed justice had been served while the whites and the Latinos strongly disagreed.
He was also involved in a case of robbing a Las Vegas casino in 2007. Namely, the perpetrators were a team led by Simpson and they took NFL memorabilia, which Simpson later claimed had been stolen from him. While he admitted to taking the items, he denied that they broke in and carried weapons.
