Many of the celebs that made our list made it because they look 20, 30 years younger than they are. With Helen Mirren, it is more complicated than that. In a true cool-European-lady fashion, Helen has, for the most part of her career, looked her age. Only the most perfect version of her age.
Even when you look at her these days, at 70, she does not look 40. Okay, she does not look 70 either, but you can see that she is not 40 either. She is not afraid to show her age and her wrinkles. There is something so liberating about that.
Somehow we get the feeling that if all people were like Helen, we would very quickly transcend this obsession with youth and looks that we all harbor. Or maybe we’re just being idealistic.
