The freshly-divorced mother of two seems to have it together just fine, but it wasn’t always the case. Between the present and the past when she was also doing great there was a dark period in which, to put it simple, she went a little crazy.
In 2010, Carey made the movie Glitter which was a spectacular flop, both commercially and critically. Not being used to failure, the singer obviously took it badly and started acting a little weird. She started responding to fan mail and comments through her website saying she was trying to figure out life and not being able to trust anyone anymore, which sounded a bit paranoid, to say the least.
Then came the famous MTV’s Total Request Live in which she appeared pushing an ice cream cart dressed in nothing but a teeny tiny tank top and some short shorts underneath a T-shirt she, sure enough, soon took off, bantering about rainbows. She was admitted to a hospital for “exhaustion,” which we all know means nervous breakdown.
