16. WHITNEY HOUSTON
The late, great Whitney was a true legend of pop music, one of the greatest. She was also a colossal mess. The last decade of her life served as a prolonged, painful introduction to her tragic death, one that, unfortunately, many had seen coming. What happened to Whitney Houston is not so much a meltdown, as it is a tragedy.
In the early 1990’s Whitney truly had it all. Her songs made no. 1 across the globe, her records were selling like crazy and she even made a wildly successful movie, The Bodyguard. She had money, she had a husband she loved and she was one of the brightest stars around.
Then she started to do drugs, to drink heavily, and her name was all over tabloid pages all the time due to her troubled, domestic violence-ridden marriage with Bobby Brown, which finally ended in 2012. Whitney Houston was found dead in 2012, the cause of death being drowning associated with chronic abuse of cocaine.
