Burt Reynolds filed for bankruptcy in 1996; among his debtors was his wig maker to whom he apparently owed $100,000. Okay, stop sniggering. But seriously, it’s almost too funny to be true.
Burt Reynolds was once a bigshot actor and one of the coolest celebrities around. So what happened to him? He basically disappeared at one point and was nowhere to be seen – not in the movies and not on television. With no apparent source of income and with some pretty lavish spending habits, no wonder he had to file for bankruptcy.
Reynolds, however, gets upset when people ask him about the fact he’s broke. Once the highest-paid Hollywood actor, Reynolds put up some of his movie memorabilia for sale in 2014. When asked whether he’s selling those to come out of bankruptcy, he got angry and said he was simply tired of looking at pictures of himself around the house.
