Nina Hartley is a retired porn star, and has been very vocal about atheism over the years. She, like many others, considers religion an opiate for the masses and does not want to be part of a lie.
However, Hartley is interested in learning about history of religions, and recognizes everything organized religion has done to improve the lives of people. Having in mind her line of work, it may not even be surprising that she is a nonbeliever, given that the Church condemns sex as a great sin and most definitely condemns her and her life’s work.
Still, the way this actress accepts human nature and different sexualities is anything but a sin. In addition, Hartley is an outspoken feminist, which is not something you see in organized religions very often.
