One of the greatest actresses of our time, Emma Thompson also dealt with extreme depression and was unable to get out of bed at times. She struggled with the serious condition after the split from her first husband Kenneth Branagh and managed to overcome the illness only with the help of her second husband, fellow actor Greg Wise.
Talking about her illness, Thompson revealed that she had done everything possible to ignore the voices in her head, a task that proved to be too overwhelming for the actress. Here’s what she said about depression:
I don’t think I did stay sane. I should have sought professional help. Divorce. Ghastly, painful business.
However, all’s well that ends well: she is now happily married to Wise and leads a fulfilled family life with her family.
