It’s not the first time that we hear about comedic actors who are, in fact, the saddest actors. Ace Ventura, Mask, and Dumb And Dumber actor Jim Carrey may have been the goofiest person on set when the movies were filmed, but he actually had quite the fight with depression at some stages of his career.
Nobody knew much about this until he openly spoke about it in 2009. He realized he had absolutely nothing to lose by talking about his problems in public. He revealed that his condition didn’t simply involve “sad days” and said he was taking Prozac.
Although he is now clean and no longer takes antidepressant medication, can you imagine how severe his depression was? No wonder he excelled in serious dramas such as The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and the Man on the Moon.
