Everyone knows that Sir Elton John battled drug abuse, but not many people are aware that the legendary musician also suffered from bulimia. He has spoken publicly about his struggles with the wicked eating disorder, as well as with another eating disorder of chewing and spitting.
He confessed that he had been in denial for more than 15 years, but when things went overboard in 1990, John checked into rehab for cocaine addiction and bulimia. Though it was hard for him to admit that he needed help, the treatment was more than successful. Here’s what he told Larry King in 2002:
As soon as I said those words [“I need help”], I knew that I was going to get better, and I was determined to get better. But it was just a relief to be able to say those.
