A recurring character in the first and second season, the maester of Winterfell is played by British actor Donald Sumpter.
The 71-year-old actor appeared in the 1968 Doctor Who serial ‘’The Wheel in Space.’’
He appeared in Doctor Who again in the 1972 serial ‘’The Sea Devils.’’ During his career, Donald has acted in many TV shows and movies. He had roles in three Dickens’ novels movie adaptations: ‘’Nicholas Nickleby’’, ‘’Great Expectations’’ and ‘’Bleak House.’’
The loyal servant to House Stark, Sumpter is best known for ‘’The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’’, ‘’The Constant Gardener’’ and ‘’Eastern Promises.’’ He has also appeared in episodes of popular TV series ‘’Midsomer Murders’’, ‘’The Bill’’, ‘’Holby City’’, and ‘’A Touch of Frost.’’
