4. The Past Is The Present
There is no doubt that the vast majority of people know Snoop Dogg as a solo act, a man who is capable of setting the crowds on fire without anyone’s help. However, at one point in his career, he was a member of a group called 213.
The group included him, Nate Dogg (his cousin, remember?) and Warren G. They named the group after the area code for Long Beach – 213. They had their first appearance on Dr. Dre’s song Deeez Nuuuts from The Chronic. Their breakthrough hit was Ain’t No Fun.
In 1994, they released their first EP called St. Ides. After that, the group sort of disbanded although they did feature on one another’s projects later. In 2004, they got together again for a one-off album called The Hard Way.
