Rappers get their names from all over the place. Sometimes their names are supposed to represent their personality, the way they rap or something completely different. Other times, they are the unfortunate results of particularly wild nights where common sense gets thrown out the window.
In Snoop Dogg’s case, the story of the name is actually quite sweet and touching. Let’s hope he doesn’t read this.
Namely, when he was a kid, he used to watch a ton of TV and his absolute favorite show was Peanuts cartoon. His mom gave him the nickname Snoopy and it stuck. Of course, he couldn’t have gone with simply Snoopy, both for trademark reasons and also because it is a fricking dog out of a fricking cartoon.
