12. Eric Clapton had a secret love child in 1985
Although still married to Pattie Boyd at the time Eric Clapton fathered a secret daughter named Ruth. Her identity was kept a secret until 1991.
However, the secret came out thanks to the British press. Eric was known to me a lady’s man and his affairs are not that much of a secret.
Ruth is the daughter of Yvonne Kelly, who ran the Air recording studio on the Caribbean island of Montserrat. The affair occurred while Clapton was recording an album at that studio. No one knew about Ruth until she was uncovered at the funeral for Clapton’s four year old son who tragically fell from a window and died. Ruth was seen holding Eric’s hand at the funeral and her identity was then revealed.
It took a tragedy of outrageous proportions to get Clapton to recognize his daughter. And interestingly enough, she is a musician today and plays in an indie rock band.
