19. Clint Eastwood
Famous American actor and director (and everybody’s favorite cowboy) Clint Eastwood has had a strong interest in politics throughout most of his life. He won election as the nonpartisan mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea in April 1986. Also, in 2001, Governor Gray Davis appointed this cowpoke into the California State Park and Recreation Commission.
As far as other major issues are concerned, Eastwood also endorsed Mitt Romney during the presidential election in 2012. Moreover, he delivered his controversial prime-time address at the 2012 Republican National Convention. Confirming the rumors that he was to be the ”mystery speaker,” the Oscar-winning actor spoke to an empty chair he pretended was occupied by Barack Obama to openly express his views on the current status of the political scene.
