18. David Zucker
Many people shifted their attention toward the Republican party after the September 11 tragedy, as they seemed like a more logical option, inspiring confidence with their idea of how national security should be handled. David Zucker was one of those people.
Even though he was a Democrat at first, “The Naked Gun” and ”Airplane” director quickly turned to the Republicans, as he became more and more concerned with the issue of national security. It was a turn that his family and many of his friends probably didn’t expect to happen. He recalls that even other parents at the school his kids went to gave him judgemental looks as if he’d “betrayed the cause.”
But, ultimately, when it comes to keeping the country safe, Zucker believes the Republican Party and not the Democrats. In fact, he even directed election ads for pro-Republican 527 groups.
