13. Tony Danza
TV actor Tony Danza is probably best known for his starring roles in hit TV series like “Taxi” and “Who’s the Boss?”
He’s been nominated for an Emmy Award as well as four Golden Globe Awards, and in 1998, he won the People’s Choice Award for his 1997 sitcom “The Tony Danza Show,” for which he picked up the award for Favorite Male Performer in a New Television Series. Danza has always been a crowd favorite with a devoted female following.
More recently, Danza has ventured into the world of reality television in an uncharacteristically serious role. In 2009, he was filmed teaching high school kids for the A&E reality show “Teach: Tony Danza.” In the series, he co-taught a 10th Grade English class at Northeast High School of Philadelphia with another teacher.
The series ran in 2011 to the surprise of his fans and also spawned his 2012 book, “I’d Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had: My Year as a Rookie Teacher at Northeast High.” Both the book and the television show showcase an earnest but obviously nervous Danza doing his best to be an inspirational teacher to high school students, but realizing just how difficult the job was. Many viewers found it refreshing to see the usually-confident, almost cocky Danza out of his element and pushing his comfort zones as never before.
While Tony Danza has said that he’s never contributed any monetary funds to any political candidate’s coffers, the Federal Election Commission indicates that he is a registered Republican Party voter. He even considered running for NYC mayor in 2012, according to the Huffington Post.
His Red affiliation likely began early on, as he comes from a very conservative Italian family and was brought up in Brooklyn among like minds. Campaign contribution reports actually show that Danza has donated very generous amounts of money to a number of Republican causes and candidates that include George W. Bush.
