These days, it’s hard to find conservative actors and actresses who will openly sing the praises of the party. The prevailing theory is that it’s just too risky to speak out because the possibility of career damage is too great, especially in the current political climate.

Celebs on the A, B, C and D lists fear the consequences of being outspoken about their conservative beliefs. Drew Carey, Patricia Heaton, and others lamented about this fact of life in Hollywood in the film “Rated R: Republicans in Hollywood.”

Known Republicans Mel Gibson, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis, Heather Locklear and Jaclyn Smith all refused to be interviewed for the film, which speaks volumes despite their not saying a word.

Jacquelyn Ellen “Jaclyn” Smith is an iconic actress and successful businesswoman. Best known as Kelly Garrett in “Charlie’s Angels,” she was the only original “angel” to stay in the series for its entire run from 1976 to 1981. Jaclyn Smith is another Hollywood celebrity who prefers to remain fairly tight-lipped when it comes to her political views.

However, the former Charlie’s Angels beauty is known to have donated money to the George W. Bush campaign fund. Despite never having been very active or outspoken about her political views, World News Daily reports that her name is often included on lists of names of people who are of that rare breed: the Hollywood Republican.

She expresses her political views quite clearly with her pocketbook and in the voting booth; however, when it comes to speaking out in interviews or within her community, Ms. Smith chooses to be low-key on the matter. Many Hollywood conservatives voice frustration about this, wishing that their peers would be more outspoken so that conservatism can be more normalized and accepted in Hollywood circles.

However, for now, Jaclyn Smith remain part of a fairly substantial group of Hollywood actors and actresses who choose to keep their political leanings very close to the vest.
