9. Michael Oher
Michael Oher has a very touching story that included quite a bit of luck for him to succeed and make it off of the streets. He couldn’t have grown up in a more difficult situation. Oher was living on the streets with his mother, who was addicted to crack. Eventually his luck turned and he ended up being taken in by a wealthy family.
After that, he showed that it’s all a matter of hard work and perseverance. He eventually played at the University of Mississippi and was drafted into the NFL by the Baltimore Ravens in 2009. Oher would end up having great success in the NFL.
He also wrote a great book about all of his struggles, it’s a very inspirational read called The Blind Side: Evolution of the Game, which was later made into a movie titled simply Blind Side. He also has an autobiography called I Beat the Odds, which is a very touching read as well.
