Lil’ Kim is, without any doubt, one of the most important female rep artists of all times. Along with Missy Elliott, she is the only female hip-hop artist to have at least three platinum albums – “Hard Core,” “The Notorious K.I.M.” and “La Bella Mafia.” Still, life wasn’t always that great for Lil’ Kim. As a child and a teen, she went through a lot, including being homeless – twice.
Kim grew up in an abusive household. When she was eight, her mother finally decided to leave so she and Kim were homeless for a while, living out of her car. They eventually returned home but a year later Kim’s parents divorced and her father got custody. The two had a troubled relationship, which culminated when he kicked her out of the house. Lil’ Kim spent some time homeless in the streets of New York with her friends.
