17. Sylvester Stallone
The Hollywood superstar rose to prominence with the movie he himself wrote, the legendary “Rocky.” The film was wildly successful and sky-rocketed Stallone to stardom, but before that happened, the actor, best known for his roles in the “Rocky” series of movies, “Rambo,” “The Expendables,” “Cliffhanger” and “Demolition Man,” was going through a really rough patch.
There is a story, confirmed by Stallone himself, about how he had to sell his dog in order to survive while being completely broke and homeless. He had just written the script for “Rocky” and was trying to push it but he desperately needed cash so he sold his dog for $50. One week later, after he sold the script, he tried to buy the dog back, but the new owner wouldn’t have it so he had to offer him $3,000 in order to get the dog bag. Plus, he had to promise the man a small role in the movie.
