Another famous singer that was once completely down and out is Kelly Clarkson. She was living in a car and sometimes in a homeless shelter before she became a contestant on American Idol. She had an apartment in Hollywood, which burned to the ground and left her on the street.
Clarkson said that she had to sneak into a health club to shower during this time. But her talent could not be denied, and she was the first winner ever of the American Idol show. Of course, Clarkson ended up scoring hit after hit and became one of the biggest American singing sensations of the last decade.
She had everything riding on that American Idol audition while she was living on the streets, and you could really tell that she was giving one hundred and ten percent of herself every time she got on that stage. It was pure magic every time she sang, and the judges knew she was a star.
