4. Aaron Hernandez
The arrest of New England Patriots star tight end Aaron Hernandez is definitely no laughing matter. In fact, if he is committed of murder, he will face a very long jail sentence, not to mention that his career was over as soon as the arrest was made.
Many people close to the player and the team say that he had a history of negative behavior and that he constantly hung around with a bad crowd that included gang members and criminals in his close circle of friends. In June 2013 he was arrested in connection with a murder. The lifeless body of man was found close to Hernandez’s home in Massachusetts. The person who was killed was called Odin Lloyd, and he was apparently either a friend of the football player or at least an acquaintance.
Hernandez seems to be in deep trouble and this probably will not end well for him. He is facing the murder count and five gun charges as well. If Hernandez is found guilty, it will be a terrible story for a man who was a rising star in the NFL.
In 2012, he signed a five year contract worth $40 million, but it seems that this could not keep him away from the streets and the bad people that he befriended.
Although there are NFL players that are constantly being arrested for a variety of reasons, this is the first case of a murder charge since Ray Carruth in 2001.
The Patriots organization and fans are obviously disappointed, because Hernandez was supposed to be an integral part of their offense for a very long time to come, and now his career is over for good.
