9. Soleil Moon Frye
Soleil is most recognized for her role as Punky Brewster in the NBC sitcom during the 80′s. When she was a little older, she had several appearances on Saved by the Bell, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and is now a producer on Punk’d, as well as juggling several other media projects.
This girl really started off young. I mean, really young. She began acting at the age of two, when she saw her father, an experienced actor Virgil Frye, along with her brother, Meeno Peluce, on TV. Her mother, Sondra Peluce, was her manager. When she was eight, she became acknowledged worldwide as the leading role in the Punky Brewster, which was first aired in 1984 on NBC. The show was focused on a fun and loving foster child, whose parents left her.
In 1998, Frye directed a film at the age of 22! Well, actually co-wrote and co-directed. Seems like she’s always ahead of her peers. The movie dealt with experiences of a group of teenagers who meet up in a café.
She’s been associated with witches more than a few times. On screen witches, of course. She starred in a television movie called I’ve Been Waiting for You in 1998, where her character hunts a witch.
A few years later, she joined the cast of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch in 1996, where her character played the best friend of a witch. Also, she was short-listed for the role of a witch in Charmed in 1998, after Shannen Doherty left the show, but the part was given to Rose McGowan.
She had three wins and three nominations in her carrier, thus far. The multi-talented actress also published a book called Happy Chaos: From Punky to Parenting and My Perfectly Imperfect Adventures in Between, and also started hosting a web series, Her Say. Frye also hosts a blog on her official website that deals with women’s issues and parenting.
