Actor Brandon Lee, the 28-year old son of the late kung fu legend Bruce Lee, was killed after a small explosive charge used to simulate gunfire went off inside a grocery bag during filming on a movie set in Wilmington, N.C.
Lee, who many believed was on the threshold of stardom, had been working on the $14-million movie “The Crow,” produced by Edward Pressman and Jeff Most. He portrayed a rock star brought back from the grave who adopts the behavior of a night bird to avenge his own and his girlfriend’s deaths.
The peculiar circumstances of Brandon’s death together with the cult-like following experienced by his father, have caused speculation and rumor about the death of the young star who was about to break through into the world of mainstream Hollywood movies.
Many believed he was the victim of foul play. Others speculate that his own ways sent him to an early destiny. Brandon himself believed his family was jinxed by a curse imposed upon his grandfather when he angered a Chinese businessmen.
