12. Aaliyah
Aaliyah was a pop singer who was at the height of her success when she died in a freak accident while leaving the Bahamas by plane. She was only 22 when she died in 2001. She was on her way from the Bahamas to Florida with some other people from her record company after filming a music video in this exotic location.
They were supposed to leave the next day, but since the filming of the video finished earlier, Aaliyah and her crew decided that they wanted to leave as soon as possible and get back to the States. The problem was that the plane they were going to leave in was significantly smaller than the one that they came over in. And that means that there were too many people and too much equipment.
This means that the people and the cargo were way too heavy for the plane itself and it ended up crashing right after takeoff. The plane made it only about 200 feet away from the runway before it crashed. Everyone on the plane died, not only Aaliyah. The pilot, Aaliyah’s hair stylist, her security guard, a couple video producers and other record company officials were killed in the crash – a total of eight people.
