8. Andrew Lincoln

 On the hit television show The Walking Dead, Andrew plays Rick, an all-American cop hell-bent on protecting his family and friends from the hordes of the undead. In real life things are a little different; not only are there no zombies, but he’s English, with a well spoken tone.

Andrew Lincoln is a British actor. His father is an English civil engineer and his mother is a South African nurse of English descent.

He spent his early childhood in Hull before his family moved to Bath when he was only 10. He was educated at Beechen Cliff School in Bath, and then entered the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Lincoln’s first big break came for his portrayal of Edgar ‘Egg’ Cook in the UK drama series This Life in 1996. He then had numerous and various roles, such as the teacher Simon Casey in the Channel 4 series Teachers in 2001 and as Mark in the hit movie Love Actually in 2003.

In 2010, he was casted in The Walking Dead, a live action drama series based on the comic of the same name. Lincoln plays the lead character, Rick Grimes.

He is married to Gael Anderson, and his father-in-law is legendary musician Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull.

He also worked with London’s National Youth Theatre.

In 2004, Empire Magazine nominated the actor for a Best Newcomer award for his performance as Mark in Richard Curtis’s film Love Actually.

He’s backing Shelter, the British charity for the homeless.

In 2001, he went to Ghana for a month with Voluntary Services Overseas to experience how volunteers and development agencies work.
