It’s unclear why the Internet loves picking on poor James Van Der Beek so much – is it his face, his poor choice of roles, his acting or the fact that once famous, the actor later disappeared from Hollywood and made himself an easy prey for online cynics.
It’s probably all of that, but the fact remains that the actor who stole hearts on Dawson’s Creek is today more famous for being a meme. Van Der Beek was born in Connecticut, where he graduated from the Cheshire Academy. After several indie roles, he was cast as Dawson Leery in the cult series Dawson’s Creek.
He started making more high-profile movies but this ended after Rules of Attraction, when his career started to decline. Lately he’s focused more on theater, but he did star in a few TV shows as well.
