Halle Berry, former Miss Teen All American and a celebrated actress, has been battling diabetes mellitus type 1 all her life. Diabetes mellitus type 1 (also known as type 1 diabetes) is a form of diabetes mellitus that results from the autoimmune destruction of the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas.
Untreated, type 1 diabetes is ultimately fatal; however, the disease can be controlled with supplemental insulin that must be administered daily for an indefinite period of time. She won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2002 for her performance in Monster’s Ball and was also the first black American in the Miss World Competition.
Unfortunately, she didn’t win that competition but she is present on almost all of the lists of most beautiful and sexy people. Living with diabetes, Halle Berry eats right, exercises and makes health a priority.
