14. Michael Phelps
When you take a look at all the achievements he has managed to amass in such a short timespan, there is absolutely no doubt that Michale Phelps is one with the waves. Back in 2004 when he was just 18, he swam his way to six gold medals at the summer Olympics in Athens. He holds 13 world records, including the 4 x 100-meter freestyle relay and the 200-meter butterfly.
Then again, Michael might not have had the chance to swim at all were it not for his mother Debbie Phelps. According to her, Michael hated getting his face wet, so they flipped him over and taught him the backstroke. And while he slowly but surely displayed his aptitude toward swimming, there was no possible way for him to concentrate in school. This was due to the fact that he was diagnosed with a serious case of ADHD that would’ve completely shattered his hopes and dreams if his mother hadn’t helped him overcome his problems with patience and innovative solutions.
