Believe it or not, the President was also a smoker for a very long time. He started smoking when he was a teenager, and he didn’t stop until he made it into the Oval Office. The year that he decided to quit was 2010. Like many smokers, he had to quit cigarettes gradually. First he switched them out for nicotine gum and patches.
And then he made the decision to finally kick the habit for good. When asked how he did it, he said that it was his wife’s urging that really helped him. He said that if she hadn’t nagged him all the time about it, he probably would not have been able to quit on his own. Thank goodness the First Lady is so persuasive.
