One of the best actors of his generation, Sir Anthony Hopkins is probably best known for his role in Jonathan Demme’s Silence of the Lambs, which earned him an Academy Award and several other accolades.
He is not a type of celebrity to be seen around chased by paparazzi, so it’s no wonder his smoking is not a matter of great public debate. Still, the legendary actor admitted himself that he had been smoking for years, a long time ago, and that he believes to have successfully kicked the habit.
However, Hopkins also said that it’s a myth that cigarettes can be kicked for good. The craving stays on forever, at least for him, so he has to be extra careful not to slip and go back to his old ways. In order to prevent that from happening, the actor took his friend’s advice and read the best-selling book “The EasyWay to Stop Smoking” by Allen Carr, saying it was not only very helpful and efficient but also quite enjoyable.
